Last night Harry Connick Jr. helped the idol contestants with Frank Sinatra songs. Chicken Little sang “Fly Me to the Moon”. I didn’t love the arrangement. I think the song is perfect as it is and you really shouldn’t mess with it. Chicken Little (aka Fivel the Mouse) was okay last night…nothing special. Casey (aka Curly Blonde Hair) did not have a good performance. His vocals were kind of whack, but he sure is cute, so I’m going to give him a pass. Bowersox sang “Summer Wind” and it was just okay. I’m bored with her. She hasn’t been good for a few weeks and I’m over her. She needs to go back to the grungy, raw, authentic, street performer kind of vibe she started with. Big Mike sang “Just the Way You Look Tonight”….and let me tell you just how he looked last night. He looked like a hot mess with those tight pants on and that teeny tiny hat on his head. In fact, I have a picture of exactly what he looked like.

Actually the first line he sang sounded pretty good. His vocals were okay, but he gets a thumbs down for all that repetitive lip licking. My favorite paint salesman, Lee DeWyze was ok. This was not one of his best performances, but the judges liked it and he’s super cute so it’s all good. I’m thinking Chicken Little and either Curly Blonde Hair or Bowersox will be in the bottom two.
Don’t forget to watch Glee tonight after Idol.
Were we watching the same show? The first couple of bars Chicken Little sang were OK. But what I discovered as he meandered through the rest of the song is he has a pretty limited range of “quality” notes. He has a tendency to go off key way too often.
ReplyDeleteWill someone PLEASE tell Simon his chest is not that appealing.
Why do these kids seem so uncomfortable when they don’t have a guitar in their hands. You ever notice when Randy starts to laughing and throwing out a million Yo – Yo Man’s, the critique is not going to be good. Casey was down right horrible. He’s just way too inconsistent. And he looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there. Crystal wasn’t fantastic but she was good. But I agree, she needs to go back to her roots. Of course, it’s hard when they ask you to sing something from Frank Sinatra’s song book. Lee had a sparkle or two and then he seemed to lose steam. Lee wasn’t as good as the judges seemed to think. But you can say what you want, Big Mike was GOOD! He was in his element voice-wise and it was obvious he was way comfortable onstage. So stop the hating and give him his due. Besides, we all have little irritating ticks. Ellen and Connick were fun. So it was an OK show.
But then, I browsed the old Tivo and went to Church. I sure hope you saw Sunday Best this past Sunday. But if you didn’t, BET repeats episodes a lot, so I can’t wait to hear your comments. As far as I’m concerned, this season Sunday Best has it all over AI.
I haven't got to Sunday Best, but its on my tivo and will be an upcoming post. Just not enough hours in the day. Everybody was whack last night. Casey is not inconsistent, he sucked this week and he's been great every other week. Please don't even get me started on your boy Big Mike. I'm way too tired to go there. Lee is going to win. We can skip the next few shows and just give him the title now.
ReplyDeleteI know your psychic powers have been pretty much on during this season. But, I'm not sure if you're on the right track this time. Personally, I think the final two will be Crystal and Mike.
ReplyDeleteNo way Jose. The final two will include my favorite paint salesman Lee Dewyze. I got to get me some paint.
