Hey guys, Click Here to check out the new Beyonce video and tell me what you think. (Thanks to KG for sending me the alert.)
I’m not sure how I feel about it. I didn’t care for most of the make-up and was not excited about all the costume changes. She is beautiful, but I’m not into watching a stylist dress her up like a Barbie doll for five minutes. I guess I’m just not satisfied if she doesn’t have some dancers behind her doing some new creative choreography that I can’t wait to try out. I don’t even think I like the song. At least it didn’t do anything for me after listening to it for the first time. Give it a week or two and it’ll probably grow on me like most of her songs. She’s good at playing those Jedi mind tricks on me and making me follow her in whatever direction she goes.
Ok, let me say that I like Beyonce. Saw her in concert and she was pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have to say that I like the concept of the video, i.e. the lighting, makeup and the manner in which it was shot.
BUT, I do have some issues with her in this video. First, isn't she married? I feel like she is getting trashier in the way that she dresses. I don't understand why she feels like she needs to compete with all these artists that need to be naked. She's a beautiful girl and I don't think she needs to take her clothes off to be sexy.
Second, what's up with all the weird facial expressions that she's been making lately. She did it in Gaga's video too. With the wide eyes and the open mouth. I get that it plays into the whimsical nature of the video and the 1920's theme of the video but it's starting to get cheesy.
I don't really care for the song!
And finally, wasn't she suppose to take a break! What's the point of doing the video?!?!?!?
Ok, I'm done with the Beyonce rant! LOL! I still love her but I guess I'm just over her over-saturation.
I knew you'd like the make up. I get the atistry and the theme they're going for but I don't care for that look...the bright red overdrawn lips and the cat eyes. Uhm, yeah she's married. What does that mean she has to act like a nun now? Look, if her Daddy didn't have a problem with all those skimpy clothes I'm sure her husband doesn't. They like the money rolling in so they can overlook it.Beyonce's not taking a break. Didn't she write all of B'Day while she was on "vacation"?
ReplyDeleteOf course, she doesn't have to look like a nun now, she's not dead. I was making the point that she has gone more into the other side of needing to not wear clothes to sell records and I always liked that she had sex appeal without having to do all that. Don't get testy! LOL
ReplyDeleteOK here's a thought - I think she's trying to compete with Tina Turner. You know Tina has those iconic legs. And Beyonce is trying for the iconic legs and butt. Alright, maybe it's a stretch. But I think that's what she and her people are always trying to focus on everytime we see her in a video or on stage. As far as the song is concerned, it's mediocre at best. And, in my opinion was not worth the effort of the video.
ReplyDeletePut the crack pipe down. She's not competing with Tina Turner. If she's competing with anybody it would be somebody from this century. She's competing with herself cuz she's been at the top for a while now and she has to do more to stay there I guess. Point is the song wasn't that good and neither was the video, nor was the fashion or make up ...in my opinion. I reserve the right to change my mind at a later date should the Jedi mind tricks take over.
