It’s been a long time…I shouldn’t have left you…without a dope beat to step to (fyi – those are lyrics by Aaliyah for you old folks). Anyway, I’ve been super busy so I haven’t had time to post, but I’m back in full effect. I can’t recap everything from the last two weeks of idol, but I will say that Pia’s exit pissed me off more than words can say and I would’ve boycotted the show, but I have to continue to watch Jacob switch his hips and bat his eyelashes even though it frightens me. I’ve talked about his lip gloss before, but I want to talk about it again. I feel like initially it was subtle. He wore just a little for moisture, than a little bit more for some shine and last week he had full on gloss with a hint of color in it. Anyway, here’s what happened last night.
Country Boy – Again.....sounds like he sings the same song every week to me. I never want to hear him sing again.
Rocker Boy – Unfortunately he sounded pretty good. This was a good performance so I can’t really hate, but I’m just not a fan.
Haley (curly-haired girl) – “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele
I love this song and love Adele and will say more about her and her new album in another post, but I think Haley is finally back. I’m glad to see she’s been doing better these last few weeks because I had high hopes for her during Vegas week and then she kind of fell off for a bit.
Jacob – “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross
(sigh) This was not a good performance for him. Usually he’s really good and this time he just wasn’t that great. So…instead of talking about his vocals I’ll spend a little bit of time on his cosmetics. The last couple of weeks his lip gloss has been cool, but seems like this week he’s put away the lip gloss and decided to put all the focus into his false eyelashes. I bet you next week he wears both.
Casey (aka Seth Rogen’s cousin) – “Harder To Breathe” by Maroon 5
YEAH!!!! Thank you Casey! First of all I love love love that song and the album it came from, Songs About Jane is one of the best albums of all time! Seriously, it’s that good…every song on the album is amazing! Ok anyway, that performance was great. I’m glad he’s back to himself because he started out so strong then kind of lost his way for a while.
Stefano – “Closer” by Neyo
Before he even started singing, I was thinking this is a bad idea. This is just not a song you sing in a talent competition. Hopefully for his sake he can prove me wrong, but I doubt it. Nope. I was right. That was a bad idea. I think Stefano just bought his plane ticket home. (Remember, I’m half psychic so it will probably happen.)
Country Girl – “Born To Fly” by Sara Evans
Eh. Who cares? There was nothing special about that performance, but I still think Stefano will be the one to go home. Talk to y’all tomorrow.

Glad your back LAH. We missed you. But LAH, why the hate? Jacob is doing his thing. No different than Adam Lambert putting his best face forward for the TV viewing public. Anyway, there are more important issues to discuss. I am so over Scotty. He is the most irritating contestant on the show. Now that everyone talks about his side lip singing and the way he holds the microphone, he has started to exaggerate these movements. I’m guessing he thinks it’s appealing or sexy – WRONG! Nothing different in his performance and he needs to go home or at least be in the bottom three. I still don’t get James Durbin. As far as I’m concerned it was another screamfest with the high squeal sounding like a screeching cat. I refuse to call it a high note because it was not on point with a real musical note. The most interesting thing about that performance was the drummers. I really like Haley. Her performance was very good. I do hope everyone gives Jacob a break and vote for him. I think he did pretty good considering he had to adjust for the technical screw up at the start of his performance. Casey was good but that whole thing with Jennifer was a little over the top. Stefano is still one of my favorites but I fear he may finally be leaving tonight. And I don’t even remember Laurie’s (Country Girl) performance so it must have been mediocre.
ReplyDeleteYou talk about me and the hate, you sure are spewing quite a bit at Scotty. I want Jacob to do well I just think he needs to watch himself. You know this show is a popularity contest as well as a singing competition and he may be a little to diva-ish for the fans that call in and vote. Did you see that nasty look he gave when he heard something he didn't like in his monitor? I liked Casey's performance and the thing with J-Lo probably was a little unprofessional, but I'm just happy that he's back to having solid performances.
