Give It Back

Who knew Idol was giving back last night? I thought it was just going to be another boring elimination show. I really haven’t been paying attention this season. Any how….let’s recap what happened. The Black Eyed Peas performed first. You know, I liked the idea of the Peas when they were first introduced to us by Justin Timberlake, and maybe that’s why. I would buy anything he’s selling. Now they just seem like some multicultural superheroes. Yeah, they make some good dance hits, but Will.I.Am’s voice and hair irritate me and the more Fergie sings, the worse she sounds. Man, Idol sure knows how to squeeze blood out of a turnip. That story about the pregnant wife dying made me pick up my phone to donate the little piece of money I had left. That cuff on Jeff Beck’s arm was way too small. Thank you Joss Stone! Finally someone that sounds really good is singing on Idol. Click here to watch her performance if you missed it. Carrie freakin’ Underwood killed it. I haven’t heard this girl sing a bad note yet. She’s been on about a hundred shows since she won idol and she sounds good every time (which is more than you can say about most of these established artists running around out here now). I was hoping that Alicia Keys would change my mind but she started her song with that airy, whiny voice and then after that I was just so distracted by that silk garment riding up her butt. Ok, this is the second time Idol’s had Elliott Yamin sitting in the audience without having him sing. How rude! All that talent sitting right there at your disposal and all you do is wave to him? They have all these other fools singing on the show with their weak voices (Season 7’s Brooke White with that boy looking like rejects from the Twilight cast) and their whack songs (Orianthi) when they could have Elliott Yamin grace us with his beautiful voice. Don’t even get me started on Yamin. I’ll get back to him on another post. I don’t really know what to say about the Mary J. Blige performance, but I will say that Travis Barker was great on the drums. I love me some Elton John, but his voice is completely gone. Looks like my psychic powers are working again. Swoopy hair boy went home.

  1. I’m so glad to see that we are completely on the same train for a change. I had to replay Joss Stone twice, it was that enjoyable. Don’t even get me started on Mary J. I just don’t get it and I never will. Carrie Underwood is simply amazing. Just think what a wonderfully fortunate cosmic collision that was - American Idol and Carrie Underwood – American Idol and Fantasia – American Idol and Jennifer Hudson. At least we know it’s possible for them to get it right some times. On the other hand, wonder who bribed the producers to book the Brooke White duo. It’s obvious time has not improved her skills and it’s scary that they saw fit to waste our time with that. It’s making me think that the powers that be on Idol this year need to be replaced because they are making some really wrong decisions. I’m still willing to give Alicia Keys a pass based on her past work and the thoughtful way she mentored the broken down contestants this week. It’s a shame that the sum total of her experience was not enough to coax better performances out of these sadly deficient Idol hopefuls. Only a few days later and I can only remember one good performance. And, although it was good (Crystal), it was not spectacular. I, too, can’t wait for the end. There’s no doubt this will go down as AI’s worse season yet. They can only go up next year.

  2. Uhm....don't forget the wonderful cosmic collision of American Idol and Elliott Yamin..American Idol and RJ...American Idol and Mario Vasuez....stop me, I could do this all day. I told you the powers that be on Idol are sabotaging the show because they're taking jobs on X-factor and they want to smoke the competition. I didn't think Alicia Keys gave the contestants very helpful instructions. She didn't seem that interested. She was just smiling pretty for the camera so she could sell those CDs. Here teeth are very pretty though.
